The State Library of South Australia is the custodian of the state's memories from colonial participation in early conflicts though to our contribution as part of Australian forces in international theatres of war. Warfare affected every South Australian man, woman and child either on combat frontlines or on the home front. These experiences commanded recognition and inspired creative works in the fields of art and literature.
Our involvement continues today in a number of international conflicts. The State Library honours South Australian contingents and civilians by preserving wartime heritage, enabling the people of South Australia to understand the sacrifices and contributions made for them.
