Newspaper clipping of an article by Eleanor Barbour, about the experiences of Bessie Mountford and Margaret McArthur, the only two women on the American-Australian Scientific Expedition to Arnhem Land in 1948. The article originally appeared in The Adelaide Chronicle, 21 July 1949, p. 26. 'Eleanor Barbour' was the pen name of Dorothy Dolling, community worker, journalist and campaigner for rural women's needs. As 'Marian March' she edited the women's pages of the Advertiser and as 'Eleanor Barbour' its rural weekly publication, the Chronicle. |
