Map of South Australia from a point below Point Westall on Eyre Peninsula and Mount Remarkable north to approximately the 28th degree of latitude. Details printed on the map include location of mines, vegetation, geographical features, soil conditions and water. Lithographed at the Surveyor General's Office, Adelaide by R.J. Loveday. No scale given; lines of latitude and longitude incorporated in map border. Stamped 11.4.[18]59 Besides making a significant contribution to the founding and fashioning of the new settlement of South Australia, the South Australian Company continued to play and important part in the commercial affairs of Adelaide and its surrounding regions for more than a century. Most of the papers were deposited in the State Library of South Australia's Archival collections in 1937-1938 and came from both the London and Adelaide Offices of the Company. The collection contains some 150 maps of Company lands in South Australia. |
