Port Augusta Hospital - nurses on verandah and horse and buggy in front. The building of the first hospital in Port Augusta commenced in 1873 and was completed in 1874. This original hospital consisted of two beds. The hospital was increased to 50 beds. Today the Port Augusta Hospital is an 82 acute bed hospital and provides medical services to the sparsely populated Flinders and Far North area of South Australia and is the South Australian base for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. |
