Signor F. Setaro was a well known violinist and leader of the Canary String Band which performed at various sorts of functions including weddings and picnics. Sir John William Downer was twice premier of South Australia June 16 1885-June 10 1887 and October 15 1892-June 15 1893 and was a Senator in the first Commonwealth Parliament. He was married twice. First to Elizabeth Henderson who died in 1896 and then in 1899 to Una Stella Haslingden Russell. The publication date for this piece is unclear and it is difficult to determine to which Lady Downer it was dedicated. |
