A view from the Adelaide Zoological Gardens showing the elephant, 'Miss Siam', carrying a group of people in a howdah. Some pelicans appear in the foreground. Her skeleton is preserved in the South Australian Museum. Adelaide Zoological Gardens opened on 23 May 1883 at the present site - previously animals and birds had been kept at the Botanic Gardens.
