Description : |
In 1975 South Australia became the first Australian state to legalise homosexual acts between consenting adults. Peter Duncan, the Member for Elizabeth, stated, 'This is an indicator of the continuing role of South Australia as a place where government and society is prepared to take a very liberal view of itself and to have laws which provide the maximum amount of freedom for individuals and the citizens.' |
